Wedding venue: Ekebergrestauranten

We have chosen Ekebergrestauranten as the venue for our wedding.
This restaurant is one of our favourite restaurants, and we are looking forward to sharing our special day with you in this special place.

This beautiful restaurant has panorama views over the Oslo fjord. From the restaurant you can see many of the islands, the opera house, the centre of Oslo and up towards Holmenkollen.

The History of Ekebergrestaurant

The original restaurant was built in 1916, by Tiedemanns Tobacco Factory.

In 1927 Lars Backer, an Oslo-based architect, won a competition to design the new Ekebergrestaurant. Two years later the restaurant was finished, much to the delight of the Oslo population. Today this modern restaurant is listed, and the renovation of the building is based on the idea of keeping the classical while modernising for a new time.

Towards the end of the 1990s the restaurant was closed down and left to decay without supervision, until Christian Ringnes and Eiendomsspar in 2002 bought the place and announced a grand ambition. Together with restaurateur Bjørn Tore Furset, Melby Architects and Radius Design, they have now created a modern house with all the classical features in tact.

The restaurant reopened in 2005 as we know it today, and is still one of Oslo's most popular restaurants and destinations.
